Redd Done; Leuer Out Indefinitely

AUTHOR: Justin Malaise | IN: Badgers Recap, Bucks | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Mike Redd is out again.  He is officially out for the season leaving his future with the Bucks and NBA in doubt.  I feel bad for Redd, I really do.  He seems like a great person and a truly nice guy.   But, I do not see how Redd could have been a part of the long-term plans for the Bucks once his contract expired.  I also do not think it was possible for Redd to do enough to lure any trade offers.  With his injury history and the massive salary number he is getting next season, I think it was [...]

Badgers Suffer Good Loss; Texas-Alabama Prediction

AUTHOR: Justin Malaise | IN: Badgers Recap, College Football Picks | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Badgers had what I would qualify as a good loss last night at Michigan State.  The Spartans are an elite program as evidenced by their numerous final four trips.  To beat them at their place is highly unlikely, and to sweep them in a season is almost impossible.
College basketball is not college football, teams are allowed to lose games.  The Badgers lost, but it was a close, competetive game.  This Badger team will have another shot at Michigan State at the Kohl Center later in the year.  If Wisconsin can beat Purdue on Saturday this loss will mean absolutely nothing.

Better Matchups: Main Reason the Big 10 had Bowl Success

AUTHOR: Justin Malaise | IN: Football | COMMENTS: None Yet

No matter how you slice it, with Iowa’s win last night over Georgia Tech, the bowl season has to be looked at as successful for the Big 10.
Wins:
#8 Ohio State 26   #7 Oregon 17
#10 Iowa  24   #9 GT      14
#13 Penn St 19  #12 LSU 17
#25 Wisconsin 20  #15 Miami 14
Losses:
Northwestern 35  Auburn 38
Minnesota 13  Iowa State 14
Michigan State 31  Texas Tech 41
Just looking at the scores above displays that the Big 10 had a really good bowl season.  Each bowl game the Big10 won the Big10 team was the underdog.  All of the losses were close games, and in two of those [...]

Jennings Wins Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month: December

AUTHOR: Justin Malaise | IN: Brandon Jennings | COMMENTS: None Yet

It is nice to see that for what most would have considered a down month where Brandon Jennings struggled, he was still able to average 16.7 points, 6.5 assists and 3.3 rebounds for the month and win Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month.
I will take any good publicity for the Bucks in a month where the team really struggled.  Jennings is the team’s future and provides real hope for the first time since the big three.
Congratulations Brandon!

Wrapping up the Holidays for the Bucks, Badgers and Packers

AUTHOR: Justin Malaise | IN: Bucks, Football, Packers, Wisconsin Badgers | COMMENTS: None Yet

Bucks
The Bucks had an important win on Saturday night over the Oklahoma City Thunder.   The Bucks could not afford another close loss and when they turned the ball over to the Thunder in regulation it was not looking good.  The Bucks clamped down on Durant and with smart use of their fouls were able to get the game into overtime.
In overtime Michael Redd got hot and the Bucks were able to hold on for a 103-97 win.  Redd, Bogut, and Jennings made strong contributions and Mbah ah Moute played defense on Durant about as well as can be expected.  Luke [...]
