The win last night over the Bulls, 99-97, was a big one for the Bucks. Both teams were coming into the game with 4 game losing streaks, so both teams wanted and needed the game. The Bucks were also able to get their first close victory of the season, defined by winning a game decided by three points or less.
Bogut
The big Aussie was the show, throwing down a double double to go along with several big blocks. The fate of the Bucks season really does rest on his shoulders. If Bogut can play over 70 games the Bucks really have a shot at not only the playoffs but a potential seed that will be high enough to avoid the Cavs or Magic. Bogut gives the Bucks something so few teams have, a legit center. This is not a groundbreaking observation, but games like last night’s show how valuable a quality center can be.
Ersan
It is getting to the point with Ersan that we will just need to accept the fact he is a quality power forward. Along with Bogut, Ersan is not a flashy athletic specimen, but he is hard-nosed, tough, with range. I am very happy with our whitewash front court.
Jennings
Not a great game, but Jennings made plays when it mattered. Including two big free throws down the stretch and a block of a three pointer. He really seemed to look for Bogut and that is a good thing.
Redd
Did not play and was not missed. I do not know if the team is better without Redd or not, but they do have better ball movement and fluidity on offense without him. For the Bucks to become a real player in the East Redd will have to find a way to blend in. Hopefully he was unhealthy in his short stint back.
